AIT Reading Circles Events the Week of December 3

Faculty, staff and students will be reading the book, An Inconvenient Truth (AIT), by former Vice President and 2007 Nobel Prize winnerAl Gore during Fall Semester 2007-2008. A book discussion is planned for Monday, December 3 from 5-6pm in Library Conference Room #1.

Film showings are scheduled for Wednesday, December 4 from 4-6pm and Thursday, December 5 from 1-3pm in the Library. In addition to the book discussion and film showings, a debate on "Is global warming a threat to our planet?" is planned for Thursday, January 24, 2008 from 5-6pm in the Library.

Multiple copies of AIT are available for loan from the Library. Follett Bookstore also has copies available for sale at $21.95 each. Two copies of the Academy Award winning documentary are available for one-week loan.

Freedom Writers Revisited on October 15 and 17

Join DeVry English faculty and Library staff for a book talk on Freedom Writers Diary offered on Monday, October 15 from 5-6pm in Library Conference Room #1.

A film showing of Freedom Writers starring Hilary Swank and Patrick Dempsey is scheduled for Wednesday, October 17 from 5-6pm in the Library. This critically acclaimed film shows the dedication of high school teacher Erin Gruwell to the success of her high school students. Freedom Writers Diary represents the collective writings of high school students who learned the value of friendship and focus in their lives.
