On September 14, 2011, DeVry University South Florida Library held a program, Honoring Our Veterans, Past and Present. The following organizations participated in the event--
America's Moms for Soldiers (Pompano Beach, FL) Judy Smith, President, and Lauren Ackerman, Community Affairs Director
U.S. Army Recruiting Center (Margate, FL) Captain Heather S. Deters
Veterans Center (Coral Springs, FL) David DeBusman, Therapist
Broward Brass Quintet (Sunrise, FL) Bill Barlow, Conductor
"Bringing Home the Wall" (Orlando, FL) Dee and Tom Twiggs, Founders
From September 15 through November 11, DeVry University South Florida Library will be conducting a drive for care package items to support America's Moms for Soldiers. Snacks (such as beef jerky, hard candy and granola bars) and travel-size personal products (such as razors, hand sanitizer, baby wipes and shampoo) will be requested from DeVry students and staff.
The Library and University Centers in Fort Lauderdale and Miami will also serve as drop-off points for the donations to our troops.
